09 Jun Tennis Star Yannick Noah Sponsors Cameroonian Eloundou Sisters
French tennis ace Yannick Noah has sponsored Cameroon twin sisters’s training in the United States and France. Noah, who won the French Open singles in 1983, was impressed by Linda and Manuela Eloundou’s raw talent while visiting Cameroon. Noah is the sole sponsor of their trip.
The talented teenage twin sisters are currently training in United States and will participate in a few tournaments while there. After that, they will embark to France where they will continue their training. This news is refreshing since tennis development in Africa is pretty slow. The African continent is trailing the rest of the world when it comes to tennis development.
In 2014, the then-barely 12-year-olds Manuela and Linda won gold and silver (respectively) at the African Junior Tennis Championships, after Manuela beat her sister in the finals of the Under-14 girl singles category. It’s not surprising that their tennis idols are world tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams.
