Nigeria Tennis Federation Holds ITF Coaches Course

The Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) is holding an ITF Level 1 Coaches course as part of the efforts to grow tennis development in the country.

The week-long program kicked-off on Sunday at the National Stadium’s Complex B in Abuja.  At least 30 coaches from various parts of Nigeria are in attendance.

The course is taught by the country’s top coaches, led by Rotimi Obajimi and Mohammed Ubale.

NTF Secretary General, Gloria Ekwempu-Chinwuko, said this was good timing since most of the tennis followers’ attention is fixed on the upcoming Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Open Tennis Championship scheduled to take place next week from May 7-17th in Lagos.

“The program is very timely as we all know that everyone’s focus is on the CBN Championship starting in just over a week,” she said.

The newly-appointed Ekwempu, who will be overseeing her first major tournament as the Secretary General of the NTF, assured that the tournament will live up to its high standard.

“From the records before me, I know the CBN is a very important program of the NTF and we have finalized plans to make sure that everything goes well,” she said.
