26 Apr Namibia Tennis Teachers Hone Their Skills
WINDHOEK, Namibia – Last month the Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) hosted a Tennis Teachers’ Course at the Kututura Youth Center as part of its school tennis promotion program.
The main aim of the course was to introduce teachers to the “Play & Stay” program. It was also for them to learn how to run a school league and to organize competitions.
The first day of the workshop consisted of sessions conducted in a lecture room. Participants were given handouts and instruction manuals to improve lesson presentations at schools or clubs.
On the second day of the workshop, course participants had to apply their practical skills at the youth center’s courts. The participants received certificates of attendance.
The workshop was run by three tennis development coaches: Nqobilizwe Moyo, SP van Wyk, and Kallie Heese.
Heese thanked the participants for their enthusiasm and encouraged them to apply the newly acquired skills at their respective schools.
“We will see even more enthusiasm and passion at our tennis inter-school league competitions as we already saw in the past,” he said. Heese also thanked the Basketball Artist School for providing a room for theory classes.
