The Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) hosted a week-long International Tennis Federation (ITF) Level One coaching course that got underway last week on Monday in Windhoek, Namibia.
The course was funded by Olympic Solidarity is funding the workshop with support from the ITF. ITF’s development officer for Southern Africa, Riaan Kruger, conducting the workshop.
The course was attended by 22 coaches from Namibia (most of the participants) and neighboring countries such as Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The president of the NTA Sam Kaulinge said the idea was to build local talent in Namibia.
“Our development manager Kallie Heese and coaches SP van Wyk and Nqobilizwe Moyo will assist Riaan during the course and the idea is to build local capacity so we won’t need to bring in outside experts anymore.
“Most of our participants have done the basic beginners course before, but this one is an internationally recognised course and if you pass it you will be able to coach all over the world,”said Kaulinge.
