22 Apr Liberia Launches Junior Tennis Program
Earlier this month, Liberia Tennis Federation (LTF) launched a junior tennis program as part of an effort to develop and grow future tennis stars.
LTF recruited students between 8-10 years old from two schools in Montserrado County. These kids will undergo intensive tennis training. According to LTF General, Dexter Puieyoe, this program in Montserrado is a pilot project and will hopefully be extended to other areas in the country.
Liberia’s Junior Tennis National Coordinator, Winston Wren, said he’s hopeful that these selected students will soon be participating at the African Tennis Championships after their training.
“Tennis is an expensive sport not many people are interesting in it, but this time we are trying our best to go to various schools. We want to bring the game of tennis in Liberia to the public especially the youths”, said Wren.
